Over the next few months I will use this blog as a tool for you, the reader, to learn more information on how to protect yourself. Not only from becoming a victim of Identity Theft, but how we assist police officers, celebrities, athletes and people like yourself from becoming a victim of a threat, made against you, where the person uses the internet to locate your home address. This is the same process I have used to protect my family from retaliation for investigations I have conducted while at work. I tell people this when I instruct, “This isn’t about Identity Theft. It’s about personal and family protection. The benefit is the best Identity Theft protection you will find.” I know this because, Identity Theft isn’t my concern, my safety and the safety of my family is!
I will be using real examples and mixing the blog up with some events, trips and fun stuff along the way. So share this blog with your friends because I will be explaining some new things you can do to protect yourself and new ways crimes are being committed.
Let’s go!
Your signature, autograph, name or scribble, whatever it is you call it you need to control it and know where it goes. If you are signing loan documents for a home purchase this signature will end up on the internet where it can be copied electronically and placed into ANY financial document and fraudulently used to steal your identity or money. If you know the document you are signing will be displayed online use a signature that is different than one you use daily. Only use that signature or “online signature” for documents that will be posted online. If you EVER see that signature on a check or any other document you KNOW you didn’t sign it makes it easier for the police to show where the signature was copied from.
In this example you see Bret Michaels AKA “Brett Michaels Sychak” purchased a home under the “Bret Michaels Trust of 1993.” (Yes, this is the Bret Michaels from Poison, the rock band. Bret, if you ever read this and would like help setting up a trust fund to protect your information just ask. I’ve assisted several rock stars as well and I live close to you in AZ!) I will cover trust funds later but they are a great asset when done correctly. If Bret did sign the legal document, and he may have, this is an obvious attempt to alter signatures. Point is you should do the same. If you are a police officer you should already be using a “work only” signature. A “work only” signature is just that- it’s used ONLY at work. We deal with the “bad guys” so often and give them our personal signature. It’s becoming more common for officers to be retaliated against by using their signature to falsify documents that we are becoming easy targets for Identity Theft. This goes for everyone! Think about where you work. Do you know of an ex-employee who may have your work signature? Many CEO’s and executive level personnel we work with found their signature on stamps, emails, letters- you name it and it’s the same signature they use for their finances. Many of the companies we work with have changed this practice and now use a different signature on their personal information and finances and no longer allow signature stamps. Follow this link to a video that details how your signature is captured from government websites. Bottom line-Have various signatures, know what they belong on and where they belong! Empower yourself! Mike Back on track, on the same document Bret sign’s the document as he is the trustee of the trust fund.
Here is an autograph obtained from Bret Michaels about six months after the signing of the DEED of TRUST in the above paragraph. Compare both signatures. Both are similar but very different. Let’s face it, Bret may have had someone sign the legal document, however, I witnessed the autograph and the “T” is crossed differently on each signature. Good Job Bret!
